Minimalist Zaanse Schans 8 May 2023 Today was an extra day off. Foggy weather was in the weather forecast. Slept in until 4 a.m. (02.30 a.m. on weekdays). Around 5 a.m. on the Zaanse Schans, the fog was thicker and more persistent than I had expected. I went in search of some minimalist images, which turned out reasonably well.
Because visibility is limited, you start looking for more detail and contrasts. This way of looking, I saw and found some new perspectives. The landing stage for tour boats caught my attention. Absolutely no wind, plenty of fog. The surface of the water as flat as a mirror. Reflection at its best! Wonderfully minimalistic. About 5 minutes later, a yellow boat of the Zaanstad municipality sailed past. So just in time for this shot ?? The fog was so dense that the characteristic Zaan green houses on the other side of the Zaan were barely visible. On the far left, the contours are very vaguely visible. The moment was serene, almost mystical. A blissful silence. Because of the fog, the original photo contained little colour, so I opted for black and white.
