Metropolis was made in Rotterdam's metro. Looking in the direction of view, between the seats you can see a spaceman on his way home from his space journey. He is wearing an orange spacesuit, with a white helmet. Also characteristic are the vertical ochre-yellow lines in the image. In the foreground, another pair of trousers can be seen in almost the same colour as the spaceman.
The work is dystopian and alienating and was created from a basic photo, in which we played with colour schemes and use of colour. The colours orange, ochre yellow and blue-green were deliberately chosen.
Photographer William Rutten said of this work that it is Fine Art Photography and fits within any modern interior. If you want a beautiful photo that is sure to invite conversation and is a real eye-catcher, then this is a work for you!
