The Mercedes-Benz W 136 was produced both before and after the war. And the model photographed is a 170 diesel, which was produced from 1949 to 1952. Just one year later in May 1950, there was an increase in performance due to increased displacement, installation of telescopic shock absorbers, widening of the rear axle track and stronger brakes. And of the 170 D(iesel) almost 34,000 units were built by 1953.
The 170 D was the first diesel passenger car of the post-war period.
