The Mercedes 500K (type W29) is a large coach built by Mercedes-Benz between 1934 and 1936. For the first time exhibited at the Berlin Motor Show in 1934, it had the W29 designation. Distinctive of the 500 sedan by the "K" for compressor (German for supercharger) mounted only on these cars, it was the successor to the Mercedes-Benz 380 just introduced the previous year. It offered both a bigger, more powerful engine and a more luxurious body to meet customer demand for more luxury and performance.

The 500K used the same independent suspension as was introduced on the 380, with a double wishbone front axle, double hinged pivot axle at the rear, and separate wheel location, spiral springs and damping, a world primeur. It was therefore a more comfortable and better-performing car than the previous S / SS / SSK generation roadmasters of Mercedes from the 1920s, and offered buyers a greater appeal, especially the increasing number of female pilots with well-being.

By pushing on the accelerator, the Roots supercharger was fully powered, making the five-cylinder eight-cylinder engine up to 160 hp (120 kW) and the car could drive more than 160 km per hour (100 mph) while consuming fuel with a speed of up to 30 l / 100 km (9.4 mpg-imp, 7.8 mpg-US) when this happened.
