Encounter with one of the last "big tusker" elephants in Africa. At around 50 years old and with tusks touching the ground, this is definitely a big tusker. I took this picture during a recent photography safari to Kenya. In doing so, I was standing about 15 to 20 metres away. These and other "big tuskers" live in an area guarded against poachers. A unique experience and encounter resulting in a beautiful picture! A colour version was chosen here, which in this photo does justice to the impressive elephant and especially to its natural surroundings. A monochrome version of this photo is also available on this site.
