Meandering Colorado River through the Grand Canyon.
The Colorado flows through the states of Utah, Arizona, Nevada and California in the southwest of the US.

Originally the Colorado, via a small piece of Mexico, ended up in the Gulf of California, but because all the water is used for irrigation, drinking water supply and other uses, the power nowadays stops before it reaches Mexico. It is only by means of an agreement concluded with the United States that just under 10% reach the mouth. There are numerous large but also small tributaries in the catchment area.
The upper course of almost 1600 kilometres is very deep and steeply incised, resulting in many different canyons, such as the Glen Canyon. The tributaries in the basin have formed their own canyons. This is why the landscape is characterised by many deep gorges. The most famous gorge where the Colorado flows is the Grand Canyon. There's a lot of rafting on the river.
