About ‘Me and my bird. Bird (12)’ by Ineke de Rijk

A romantic painting of a young woman and her bird. She sits on a wall with her bird next to her. Her white feather collar frames her face and her red hair. Mixed medium of watercolor , gouache and chalk. The pastel colors of the watercolor paint are layered and give a nice background on which the sun shines.

Ineke de Rijk's inspiring travels

From the Algarve to The Gambia

I have time to draw and paint more after years of volunteer work for the St. Care Foundation The Gambia. Inspiration I got in the Gambia where I also lived. The colors, the population and life is a great source of inspiration. But also the quieter life now is inspiring to use softer colours and to work more with pastel chalk. But still it's nice to work in all kinds of colours and to try out new techniques and new materials.
