Mazda Cosmo classic 1960 sports car at the motor show. Introduced in the 1960s, the Cosmo was Mazda's first attempt at a sports car and was notably the first vehicle to be powered by a rotary engine (Wankel engine) from the manufacturer. Mazda was one of the few manufacturers to adopt and refine the Wankel rotary engine, and the Cosmo was the vehicle that began that legacy. The Cosmo had a distinctive and futuristic design, characterized by its long hood, short deck, and forward cabin. Its design was quite advanced for its time, making it a standout sports car.
