Henri Matisse inspires me with his bold use of colour, which not only touches the eye but also the soul. His ability to express emotion with simple shapes and bold contrasts shows me that art doesn't have to be complicated to be powerful. His Fauvist phase in particular encourages me to be freer with colour and less bound by convention.
