Two flirting storks on their nest Schuilenburg, a town in Salland, Overijssel. During the mating dance, the birds greet each other with loud clacking of beaks, completely folding their necks. Spring is mating season for storks. Once a pair has found a nice nest, sometimes high up on man-made poles, mating begins. The storks keep this up for about two weeks, day and night. Usually both parents breed in April, after which the first chicks emerge in May.
