About ‘Martini City’ by Karin Engelkes

The Martini Tower, standing on the Grote Markt, is the tallest tower in the city of Groningen at 96.8 metres. The tower belongs to the Martini Church. To the townspeople, the city's inhabitants, the tower is nicknamed d' Olle Grieze, Gronings for the old grey one.

Good planning put the sun in exactly the right spot during sunset, right above the tower. Nature did the rest, the clouds, the colours and the contrast.

For me, the Martinitoren on the horizon is the feeling of coming home.
