A summery picture of beach grass on the beach of Terschelling. Yet this picture was taken in early October. Because the sun is a little lower in the sky then, you have more time in the afternoon to take advantage of the right light conditions. In this beautiful light, the sand structures stand out beautifully because of the long shadows and skimming light. I chose a simple composition by only photographing a tussock of beach grass. The sandy structures, emphasized by the skimming light, lead you to the tussock and then further out into the picture via the horizon. This photo was taken on the beach of Formerum on the island of Terschelling on a rare beautiful autumn evening in October 2011.
