About the artwork

Marken is a former island, now a peninsula, in the Markermeer that has been connected to the mainland by a dike since 1957. The village belongs to the municipality of Waterland in the Dutch province of North Holland. It was an independent municipality until 1991. In that year the territory was added to the municipality of Waterland. For at least a century, the former fishing village has been a tourist attraction. Marken's distinctive traditional costume has contributed to this. Characteristic are the wooden houses on stilts. Even older are the so-called yards, artificial elevations on which people lived. Marken forms one living and residential area, but is divided into various hamlets. Originally they were also separate from each other. The neighborhoods around the harbor and the church have merged with each other in the course of the 20th century. These are the Havenbuurt, Kerkbuurt and De Kets (also known as Kets for short).

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
