Maritime Detail: Ship’s bow and IJsselkade, Kampen by Fotografiecor .nl

culture. The distinctive white bow of a ship, moored at the IJsselkade, forms the focal point of the composition. The dark, robust anchor stands out sharply against the deep-blue water of the river, which, due to the current, displays a dynamic pattern of reflections and lines. The unique power of this image lies in the layering of the reflection, through which the historic character of the IJssel Delta is translated into a modern, graphic composition.

For me as a photographer, this image is a silent witness to the centuries-old bond between Kampen and the IJssel. Whilst the city in the background may be bustling, one can always find a moment of reflection on the quay amongst the boats. This detail does not tell the whole story of the city, but rather the intimate, tangible story of craftsmanship and the tranquillity of the water. It is an image that invites you to slow down; a moment of calm amidst the daily hustle and bustle.

This graphic detail is ideally suited to a high-quality print on brushed aluminium. The metal lends the white accents of the ship’s bow a subtle sheen and enhances the blue of the water, making it a perfect fit for a modern or industrial interior. The image serves as a soothing, timeless accent on the wall.
