An intimate image of a woman in the bedroom or by the toilet, it is a centuries-old theme in art. She is naked and seen from the back: we think the painter, draughtsman or photographer away for a moment. She imagines herself unseen. This is how Breitner photographed his mistress Marie sitting on her bed and taking her bath when she is about to sink.
