Maria Blanchard (1881-1932) was a Spanish painter known for her significant contributions to 20th century modern art. She was a prominent exponent of Cubism and was often referred to as the "Spanish Cubist". Blanchard's works are distinguished by her characteristic use of geometric forms, fragmented representations and subtle colour palette. Despite physical limitations due to a spinal condition, she was able to pursue a remarkable career in art, creating a variety of still lifes, portraits and landscapes. Her artistic vision and influence helped to push the boundaries of traditional art and enrich the development of Cubism.
