Marguerite, botanical illustration in minimalist style

by Eduard Broekhuijsen

A minimalist illustration of the daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare), a flower known for its fresh appearance and simple beauty. This wildflower, often found in summer meadows and along country paths, is stylised here with soft lines, balanced shapes and harmonious colours – a contemporary interpretation of a classic meadow flower. In Denmark, the daisy is also considered the national flower and symbolises simplicity and natural beauty.

This botanical illustration brings lightness and tranquillity into your home. The daisy is often associated with open landscapes, sunny days and a relaxed atmosphere. In this modern interpretation, the graceful stems and bright flower centres take centre stage in a tranquil composition, with subtle shading and generous white margins creating a gallery-worthy look. The work fits effortlessly into a Scandinavian, Japandi or nature-inspired interior.

A fresh eye-catcher for lovers of minimalist wall art and botanical simplicity.

This work is part of my album of botanical illustrations. In this collection, I give my own twist to the classic botanical prints from previous centuries. Where traditional botanical art often revolved around scientific precision, I opt for a more stylised and minimalist approach. Clear shapes, clean lines and soft colour contrasts give each flower a contemporary look – without losing its natural character. The result is a modern interpretation of botanical art: calm, graphic and timeless. Ideal for interiors where simplicity, balance and natural beauty come together.
