Driveway and facade of the former Laurens Hospital in Breda. The building was opened in 1913 as Sint-Laurensgesticht, an institution for the sick and elderly. Gradually it acquired more of the character of a hospital and in 1942 the name changed to Sint-Laurensziekenhuis. After remodeling in 1962, it became a full-fledged hospital. In 1985, the hospital merged with the Diaconessenhuis to form Interconfessional Hospital De Baronie with two branches in Breda. In the year 2000, both hospitals merged into Amphia Hospital. The original building remained in use until 1993. In 1996, the main building was converted into the current luxury apartment complex.
