Fantasy Drawing.
Actually, I thought I had drawn a picture of a Geisha. Until someone, with clearly more knowledge of Japan than I, pointed out to me that this is a Maiko. A common mistake by the way, because when you see a white face, extravagant accessories, colorful makeup and a pitch black hairstyle you automatically think of a Geisha. But often it is a Maiko, or an apprentice Geisha. The bottom line is that a Geisha has a more subdued appearance because they are older and wiser.
A Geisha is a society lady (not a prostitute) who with her traditional Japanese clothing, singing and dancing brings the evening to a higher level. The geisha can actually be compared to a personal entertainer but if you translate the word Geisha literally, you get the word 'Woman of the Arts'. And I think that sounds much nicer!
