A drawing of a magpie in watercolour paint. The bird is loosely drawn in purple and blue-like tones with black. The bird's tail is drawn extra large and is still quite open in texture. The bird is visible from the side and looks at you brightly.
It stands in a bluish landscape with a playful watercolour spot in a red hue. This makes it a loose and spontaneous picture.
Magpies are my favourite birds. They are beautiful to look at and in practice they seem quite cheeky. Yet it is often still quite difficult to approach them up close. Magpies have a bad name because they are cheeky and do rob young birds from other nests. But they just are who they are. For me, they have a special place in my heart because they look so beautiful and are so smart with their shiny feathers and high contrast in black and white.
