The magnolia is a plant of spring. In Asia, it embodies the female principle (yin) and stands for grace, purity and dignity. At the same time, however, the magnolia is an extremely sensitive plant. The painting technique picks up on this by first working the magnolia out of an abstract background and then integrating it into it again, almost letting it disappear into it. This creates an impression of great depth and three-dimensionality and at the same time magic.
Marita Braun lives in Baden-Baden and works there in the 'Alte Fabrik' community studio.
