About ‘Magellanic woodpecker’ by BL Photography
Magellanic woodpeckers are black woodpeckers found only in the forests of Chile and Argentina. This species is the largest in South America. The males are clearly recognizable by the bright red feathers on their heads.
They feed on larvae and beetles found in mosses and lichens that cover tree trunks.
