Beerbrouwerijj De Ridder was en is een markant detail van de 'skyline' van Wijck gezien vanaf de maasboulevard,.

De bekende Maastrichtse brouwersfamilie Van Aubel begon in 1857 Stadsbrouwerij de Ridder in een gebouw aan de Rechtstraat, begin 1900 verplaatst naar de Oeverwal in Wyck.
