Max Liebermann (Berlin, Germany, 20 July 1847 - 8 February 1935) was a German painter, graphic artist, pastellist and illustrator. He was also a professor at the Royal Academy of Arts in Berlin and president of the Preußische Akademie der Künste also in Berlin. A transition from realism to impressionism is visible in his work.
