Los Angeles, city of dreams. I took this photo from a vantage point in a quiet neighborhood, perched high on one of the hills surrounding the city. A place where you can get away from the hustle and bustle, but still be in the middle of L.A.'s character. The palm trees in the foreground complete the picture, typical California, and exactly what makes this city so recognizable.

For this shot, I wanted to create a warm, dreamy and cinematic atmosphere. An image that fits the aura of Los Angeles: grand, sunny, but also with a touch of mysticism. The sun was low, the light was soft and the city was bathed in an orange glow. Everything fell into place.

I deliberately chose a composition in which the palm trees add depth and the skyline remains subtly in the background. This creates a layered image that slowly absorbs you as a viewer. No rush, no crowds, only atmosphere.

At home, the second part of the process began: selecting and editing the photo to make it suitable for my shop at Werk aan de Muur. Contrast, colour and balance had to match what I was feeling there. When that succeeded, I knew the work was finished.

A piece of Los Angeles, captured in a moment of peace and beauty. Maybe it will bring some West Coast flair to your wall too.
