About ‘Looking forward to freedom’ by Joran Quinten

This poignant photo shows the view from one of the characteristic slave huts on Red Slave, at the southern tip of Bonaire. The image was taken from the shady interior of the hut, where the coarse, ochre-yellow walls bear witness to a painful past. Through the small doorway, an unexpectedly peaceful scene unfolds: the deep blue Caribbean Sea shimmers under a sky full of soft clouds, with waving grass in the foreground.

The composition deliberately plays with contrast: dark versus light, confinement versus open horizon, history next to eternal nature. It creates an image that lingers and invites reflection. At the same time, the work exudes peace and space - perfect as a subtle eye-catcher in a modern or natural interior.

This artwork tells a layered story, without being pedantic. It evokes emotions, but remains visually serene. A powerful statement in your living room, study or reception room, where it evokes both conversation and silence.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
