I found this long-eared owl in a tree where there were still colourful autumn leaves on the branches. He was roosting early and remained very alert and looking at me. Long-eared owls usually seek each other's company when it gets colder: they group together to roost together in a tree during the day. This unique behaviour is called 'roosting'.
