In Bolivia, I had the amazing opportunity to photograph these beautiful vintage locomotives at the train cemetery in Pulacayo.
Pulacayo is a mining town with the ruins of the 19th-century Huanchaca silver mine. It was in Pulacayo that Bolivia's first locomotive began operating! Because of the important extraction of minerals, transport soon became a priority, and the advanced technology this locomotive represented at the time was a real revolution in the world of mineral extraction.
According to history, this was a locomotive that Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid attacked because of the waaaay too many goods it carried. Today, in the locomotive graveyard, this is the same locomotive you can touch and see the bullet holes.... Very impressive . . !
