A black and white impression from Lisbon.
The photo shows a technical and architectural landmark of Lisbon, the passenger elevator Elevador de Santa Justa. The striking construction made of forged iron has been overcoming the height difference of 45m between the lower city Baixa and the higher situated Chiado since 1902.
Today, the Elevador de Santa Justa with its viewing platform is one of Lisbon's most famous tourist attractions, but it is also part of the Portuguese capital's public transport network.
