About ‘Life is better at the beach’ by Matthias Stolt

There’s something to that – life is better at the beach! I spotted this bike with its apt slogan on the Balearic island of Formentera, which really does have some stunning beaches. With the Mediterranean in the background, the text really does make sense. I took the photo with a digital SLR camera fitted with a 28–200 mm zoom lens.

Hamburg, Germany

I worked as a freelance photo designer for 25 years. My focus was on fashion and advertising photography. I am also the author of numerous books and articles in trade magazines.
Before becoming self-employed, I worked in marketing for a large camera manufacturer, where I was in charge of public relations.

I discovered my love of photography during my training as a retoucher. This sparked a desire not only to edit photos, but to take them myself.
