This abstract work is inspired by Isaiah 41:1: ‘Be silent before me, you islands! Let the nations renew their strength! Let them come forward and speak; let us meet together at the place of judgement.’
The blue colour in this work symbolises the vast ocean that surrounds the islands. The islands themselves symbolise the foreign nations on the earth. There are three green islands, with the island in the centre being the main focus of all the lines. These lines reflect the shipping lanes to the islands appointed to gain new strength from God. The background of these lines creates a sense of momentum, focus and determination.
The island on the left is covered by gradations of black smoke, indicating the influence of dark powers, while the island on the right is covered by gradations of white smoke, indicating the power of God's kingdom in that region. On the island in the middle, there is black and white smoke, representing the battle between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness in the island.
