About "Lenoir Orphanage - Ornate wooden entrance and historical details"

by Infinite Decay

About the artwork

The picture shows the ornately decorated wooden door in the former Lenoir orphanage. The door is crowned by detailed carvings and a shell relief and epitomises the architecture and aesthetic details of the early 20th century. This orphanage, which was built after the Second World War, served as a refuge for numerous children and was named "Lenoir" in memory of the brothers who were known for their social care.

A large chandelier with fine glass details hangs in the foreground and bathes the room in subdued light. This soft lighting enhances the solemn, slightly melancholic atmosphere that makes the eventful history of this place palpable. The intricate woodwork and ornate decorations invite you to imagine the stories of the children who once lived in these rooms. The scene radiates both dignity and transience and encourages us to reflect on the experiences that this room has harboured over the course of time.
