About ‘Leap into the Unknown’ by Retrotimes

This dynamic and slightly absurd artwork captures a moment brimming with action, humour and symbolism. A group of small rodents plunges from a rugged cliff into the depths, towards the raging sea below. The scene is spectacular and almost cinematic: splashing water, billowing dust and bodies frozen in various stages of their leap. Amidst all this, one animal stands out—literally and figuratively—with a lifebuoy around its body, as if aware of the risk the others are ignoring. The warm glow of the setting sun contrasts beautifully with the ruggedness of the surroundings. The cliffs, the waves and the light combine to form an impressive backdrop that heightens the tension of the moment. At the same time, the image adds a playful twist to a familiar concept: group behaviour versus individual insight.

“Leap into the Unknown” can be seen as a visual metaphor for choices, risks and following the crowd. Who dares to be different? Who thinks ahead? And who simply jumps because everyone else is doing it? The work leaves that interpretation open, but undeniably encourages reflection.

This artwork is perfect for anyone who loves powerful images with a story and a touch of humour. A striking addition to any space—energetic, thought-provoking and just that little bit different.
