Lavender fields in Tuscany.
This work concerns a handmade watercolour painting, which falls under the painting style: Impressionism and a technique called: Ink & Wash.
This means that the painting is a black line drawing, which is then coloured in with watercolour.
During the painting process, I was completely surprised by the effect of watercolour on wet paper. Also known as the wet-on-wet technique.
Watercolour can sometimes be a very unpredictable and dynamic medium, but in the end can produce very interesting and surprising results.
By experimenting with mixing ratios between water and paint, you as finding out more and more about how the paint reacts. And these are one of the things that makes painting in watercolour so much fun.
In this case, I wanted to paint a Lavender hillside landscape with a Tuscan look. The composition features a Tuscan country house on the purple hill. The country house is sharply illustrated and plays the main role along with the Lavender.
A beautifully colourful and high-contrast painting for lovers of purple and pink colours and the Tuscan atmosphere. This work exudes tranquillity, while at the same time being very dynamic.
This work is also available without the black line drawings. This work is called 'Wind through the Lavender Fields'.
