About ‘Last exit: Darßer Ort’ by Holger Felix

We are on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula. The old emergency harbour there, Darßer Ort, has been a thing of the past since September 2023. It has been returned to its natural state. The artificial access channel is silting up as planned, and the area is being transformed back into an unspoilt coastal lake, the Ottosee. To replace it, a state-of-the-art offshore harbour, the Prerow Seabridge, has been built around 660 metres off the coast of Prerow. It provides shelter for pleasure craft and serves as a strategic base for the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGZRS). At 720 metres in total, the mega-jetty in Prerow is the longest jetty in the entire Baltic Sea. It is even built to be so sturdy that rescue vehicles can drive across it.
