With 5255 hectares, the La Geria nature reserve is the largest wine-growing area in the Canary Islands. It is located between Yaiza and San Bartholomé on the edge of the Timanfaya National Park.
The Ermita de la Caridad chapel, built in 1706, is located in the centre of La Geria. With its single nave and hipped roof, it is an example of traditional Lanzarote architecture. The chapel was buried in 1730 during the eruption of the Caldera de los Cuervos volcano, but was not damaged. The chapel can be visited every year on 15 August during the festivities in La Geria.
