Every year we go to Cumbria. The extraordinary scenery and the fact that time seems to stand still are a photographer's paradise. Langdale Valley is a place of unparalleled beauty. The landscape is surrounded by steep mountainsides rising like sentinels on the horizon. The valley is surrounded by the imposing Langdale Pikes, the rocky peaks that dominate the skyline and hold the valley in an almost magical embrace.
What makes Langdale really special, however, is the sunlight. It enters the valley in a unique way. In the early morning, when the air is still heavy with dew, the sun gently breaks through the mist that envelops the mountain peaks. The soft, golden light seems almost magical, giving the green meadows and mountains an almost ethereal aura. Each ripple in the water of the stream glistens as if it were a thousand diamonds, and the mist that slowly lifts seems to dance in the morning light.
This farmhouse in the valley looks deserted but it is not.
