Landed U.S. Air Force Boeing RC-135 Rivet Joint.
The Boeing RC-135 Rivet Joint is a variant of the C-135 Stratolifter derived from the commercial Boeing 707. The U.S. Air Force RC-135 is a military reconnaissance aircraft used for Electronic Intelligence collection.
The aircraft is modified with advanced equipment for the purpose of detecting, locating and relaying captured data communications.
In 2005, all RC-135s were fitted with new General Electric F108 engines that are also used on the KC-135 Stratotanker. Also, all aircraft received a digital glass cockpit.
All 17 remaining operational RC-135s are assigned to 55th Wing of the Air Combat Command (ACC) and permanently stationed at Offutt Air Base in Nebraska. They are deployed worldwide.
