About "Lamborghini Miura"

About the artwork

The Lamborghini Miura is a sports car produced by Italian car manufacturer Lamborghini between 1966 and 1973. The car was the first mid-engined supercar with two seats in the rear, although the concept was first seen in a production car with René Bonnet's Matra Djet. , introduced in 1964. This layout has since become the standard for high-performance sports and supercars. When it was released, it was the fastest production road car.

The Miura was originally conceived by Lamborghini's engineering team, who designed the car in their spare time against the wishes[citation needed] of the company's founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini, who preferred powerful but quiet grand touring cars to the race car-derived machines produced by local rivals Ferrari.

The rolling chassis of the Miura was presented at the 1965 Turin Motor Show, and the P400 prototype debuted at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show. It received tremendous reception from both show-goers and the automotive press, each impressed by Marcello Gandini's streamlined styling and the car's revolutionary mid-engine design.

Lamborghini's flagship Miura received periodic updates and remained in production until 1973. A year later, the Countach joined the company's lineup amid tumultuous financial times for the company.
