Hidden high in the Swiss Alps is this beautiful blue-green lake, Lake Oeschinensee. It is easily accessible by lift from the town of Kandersteg. But I wanted more, I wanted to shoot this iconic picture focusing on the two lone pine trees. So then you have to do a tough 3-hour hike, with over 400 altitude metres and the camera bag on your back. But it was worth it, what stunning views and great photo I managed to capture.
Lake Oeschinensee, located in the Bernese Oberland near Kandersteg, is one of the hidden gems of the Swiss Alps. This crystal-clear mountain lake lies at an altitude of 1,578 metres and is surrounded by majestic peaks that rise dramatically from the surrounding valleys. The deep blue hue of the water, fed by glaciers, creates an atmosphere of pure serenity. Visitors are drawn to the tranquillity of the landscape, where silence is interrupted only by the sound of babbling brooks and birds. In summer, hikers and nature lovers gather here to enjoy the pristine nature, while in winter, the frozen banks offer a magical sight. Lake Oeschinensee is more than a tourist attraction; it is a place where the grandeur of nature and a sense of timelessness come together perfectly.
