Lake Louise is a famous lake in Banff National Park. You'll find this lake in rugged western Canada. Both the lake and nearby village are named after Louise Carolina Alberta, a child of the English Queen Victoria. The province of Alberta is also named after her. Lake Louise is the most popular lake in the Rocky Mountains.
The lake is known for the striking color of its water. In the process, the glaciers scrape across the limestone rocks, releasing minerals, these are carried to the lakes via the rivers. As the supply of water to the lake varies, so does the color of the water. It can be bright blue, but also jet black.
