The picture was taken in late summer, when at this time of year clouds of mist form like an opaque band over the Swiss shore. By lunchtime, everything has usually disappeared again and only the usual haze can be observed over Switzerland.
A natural spectacle that only lasts a few hours, does not occur too often in the year and is therefore all the more fascinating to observe. On this panoramic picture you can study it every day as the Säntis (2501.9 metres above sea level) rises dimly above everything and can be seen in the background.
