A mysterious bamboo forest where thousands of fireflies can be seen in the evening.
This artwork is a combination of a painting and a collage.
The background is constructed with hundreds of circles of acrylic paint. There are 6 layers of circles. On top of that I stuck the bamboo, which is made with painted paper. The fireflies were then applied with acrylic paint dots.
I assemble original photography, assorted papers, acrylic, oil, charcoal, ink and pencil in my works. The creative purpose of my work is to 'make something beautiful out of decline'. My tableaux explore the dissonance between old and new materials, interwoven in the most beautiful way to create dreamlike and melancholic images.
I remembered that as a young girl I so much liked to cut images from magazines to paste them into school agendas, scrapbooks and even on my bedroom door. Add to this the fascination I always had for walls filled with old posters, flaking paint, scrappy billboards.. Read more…
