Making an entrance is important to some, but “Knowing When to Leave” can be so much more significant.
Old Hollywood style, modern technology, and a song title by Burt Bacharach and Hal David all come together in this artwork.
Created on an iPad Pro with the elegant glamour of 1950s fashion and chic in mind, it depicts a beautiful woman in a pink lamé evening gown who knows exactly when and what is needed to make a graceful exit. As the song lyrics say, ‘Go while the going is good’.
For this digital mixture of drawing and painting, I tried to channel the sophisticated and somewhat distant style and beauty of women like Grace Kelly and Catherine Deneuve through the brush strokes I used with my Apple pencil.
I’m not very good at describing my artwork like this, but keywords are needed to have it found amidst the vast amount of art and artists the internet has to offer.
All I can do is hope these words help you find me, my work, and this piece in particular, and that there’s a place on your wall where you can envision “Knowing When to Leave.”
