The Kehlsteinhaus is a former "representative building" built from 1937 to 1938 above Berchtesgaden, in the Bavarian district of Berchtesgadener Land. Open to the public since 1952, it has since been used as a restaurant. The building stands just below the Kehlstein peak at 1834 meters above sea level . The Kehlstein itself is a 1881-meter-high, west-facing secondary peak of the Göll in the Berchtesgaden Alps.
The Kehlsteinhaus can be reached via a mountain road - the Kehlsteinstraße - and an elevator. The Kehlsteinhaus is one of the main tourist attractions in the Berchtesgadener Land and thus one of the most visited sights in the entire district.
