Black Square is the most famous and characteristic suprematic painting by the Russian avant-garde painter Kazimir Malevich. This painting was first shown at the latest futuristic painting exhibition 0.10 in Petrograd. The work is the most characteristic example of suprematism; the first art movement of abstract art in Russia.
Malevich called this his most important work, even later. The Black square is the design of the absolute zero. The square also remained a mystery to himself, which was never completely solved. On the one hand, it had something divine and sublime: the painting hung in the "golden corner" at the 1915 exhibition; the place where, as well as the way in which the holy icon hangs in the faithful Russian family. On the other hand, it was made by a human hand; the painter wanted the wavy lines and frayed edges of the sides of the square to remain visible.
Kazimir Severinovich Malevich (Russian: Казими́р Севери́нович Мале́вич; Ukrainian: Казимир Северинович Малевич; Belorussian: Казіме́р Мал; Мал; Soviet painter who gained great fame in Western Europe as a teacher and as a theorist of constructivism and suprematism, as modern art directions.
