About "Kattendel beach entrance"

by Peter Bartelings

About the artwork

The dune entrance Kattendel, located between Bloemendaal and IJmuiden, captures the essence of the Dutch coast in its purest form. In the picture, we see a row of wooden poles making their way through the sand like a rhythmic line. Their shadows stretch long and taut across the dune, creating an almost graphic play of light and dark.

The dunes in the background, overgrown with marram grass, recall the constant struggle and cooperation between man and nature: the sand wanting to move and the poles guiding its flow. The clear blue of the sky and the warm sand tones evoke an atmosphere of calm, openness and freedom - a typically Dutch coastal feeling.

The artwork is not only an ode to the beauty of the landscape, but also a subtle reference to protection and perseverance. It symbolises the balance between natural processes and human interventions that keep our dunes and coastline safe and livable.

About the image maker: as a born and bred Amsterdammer, Peter feels a close connection to the city of Amsterdam. Over the years, he has captured the city of Amsterdam in many iconic works. Other cities at home and abroad also fill his portfolio. Landscape and macro photography are also part of his work.
Meanwhile, he has also earned his spurs as a digital artist, especially with adaptations of old masters.

Peters' work is widely sold and hangs on walls in various European countries.
