A typically Dutch aviation moment, a KLM aircraft thundering through the rain onto the Polderbaan. Drops hit the tarmac, water splashes up along the wheels and the turbines spray a mist of power. The aircraft's blue fuselage stands out brightly against the grey sky, reflecting the distinctive Dutch mix of weather and air traffic. Such conditions make for photos full of atmosphere, dynamics and sound. You can almost feel the vibrations in the ground, hear the splashing water and smell the wet asphalt. For me, this is KLM as I like to see it, pure, recognisable and unruffled. The Polderbaan offers space and tranquillity, but in weather like this, the real energy of aviation comes alive.
