When we visit our kids in San Diego California we usually combine that with a car tour as well to see a little more of the country.
This picture was taken on a tour to the Joshua Tree National Park. Besides the well-known spiny trees the "Joshua Trees", the park is also known for the Jumbo Rocks.
These enormous, granite 'boulders' you come across everywhere. The stones are often round or oval in shape and can be more than 30 meters high.
If you enter the park from the Twentynine Palms side you will encounter them at the campground just past Skull Rock.
See also the photos of this rock. The rocks are also very popular with climbers.
On a picture such a tree and also the rocks do not look so big but if you stand there you feel really a very small doll in relation to those huge cacti and massive rocks.
Who am I, a small intro:
Once started as an architecture photographer with Robert Oerlemans as my photography docent at the art academy in The Hague.
