Jordaan Brouwersgracht Amsterdam Canals Netherlands.
From 1612 on the Brouwersgracht was dug in a southerly direction. Since 1594 the canal owes its name to the many breweries that could be found in this area in the sixteenth and seventeenth century. From 1782 onwards the Brouwersgracht near the Driehoekstraat was home to Amsterdam's last distillery of gin and liqueurs, De Ooievaar. Most of the warehouses, built for the storage of goods, have been converted into houses.
